“Navigating the modelling industry is undeniably demanding and occasionally marked by inequalities, yet my unwavering motivation stems from the continuous growth I observe in myself and my accomplishments – Shrishti Khatri.”

Shrishti, How long have you been engaged in your career?

I started my journey in modelling when I was just seven years old. Initially, I worked as a child model, which was a wonderful experience.

However, I took a break from modelling to focus on my education. My motivation to return to the industry came when I had the opportunity to participate in a pageant, and that’s when I resumed my modelling career at the age of 15.

What marked the beginning of your journey?

My modelling journey began with a significant win in the “Miss India, Fame” pageant when I was 15.

This early success encouraged me to continue participating in pageants, leading me to compete in various competitions and eventually represent India internationally. I’ve also been involved in runway modelling and worked with renowned brands.

What challenges did you face to reach where you are today?

I encountered numerous hurdles during my journey to success.

Among the most significant challenges was finding equilibrium among my academics, participation in pageants, and modelling commitments, especially considering my early start in the field.

Additionally, grappling with health concerns like PCOD made maintaining a healthy weight an ongoing battle and convincing my mother to back my decision to re-enter the industry after my hiatus posed yet another formidable challenge.

What motivates you to keep going?

Navigating the modelling industry is undeniably demanding and occasionally marked by inequalities, yet my unwavering motivation stems from the continuous growth I observe in myself and the accomplishments I achieve.

Witnessing my daily progress is a powerful driving force that propels me forward.

Equally essential to my journey has been the unwavering support of my family and friends, whose presence and encouragement have played a pivotal role in my ongoing endeavours.

Where do you see yourself five years from now?

While predicting the future is hard, I’ve always exceeded my expectations. In the next five years, I plan to participate in another prestigious national-level pageant and explore acting as a new avenue.

What methods or activities do you employ to alleviate stress in your life?

Spending time with loved ones, whether family or friends, is the best way to relieve stress. I also find solace in the company of my two adorable dogs, who bring me immense joy and comfort.

Could you share the guiding principles or philosophy that you attribute to your success?

My success mantra is to remember why I started in the first place.

No matter how tough it gets, I remind myself that I’ve come a long way and didn’t go through all the challenges to give up. Persistence and determination are key.

What obstacles did you face, whether social, economic, etc. and how did you overcome them?

I faced societal judgments and opinions regarding modelling, which are not always accepted. People sometimes consider it a hobby rather than a full-time job.

Despite these challenges, I chose to follow my passion and not be discouraged by others’ opinions.

How do you manage your social life with your personal and professional life?

Balancing studies, shoots, and a flexible work schedule can present challenges, especially for women who often shoulder multiple responsibilities.

Initially, I had to make some tough choices, which sometimes meant sacrificing family time and missing out on essential festivals due to work commitments.

However, over time, I’ve realised that achieving balance is possible and empowering.

When honed with dedication, it’s a skill that allows women to thrive personally and professionally, proving that we can have it all with determination and practice.
