A Candid Talk with Tarandeep Kaur

“Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish, it’s essential.”

From dentistry and yoga to entrepreneurship and digital influence, Tarandeep has built a life around helping people feel healthier, stronger, and more confident. In this exclusive conversation with FEMEST, she shares her journey of starting over, embracing change, and finding balance while inspiring others to live with purpose.

Your journey spans dentistry, yoga, entrepreneurship, fashion, and digital influencing. How have these seemingly different worlds shaped the person you are today?

People often think these are completely different worlds, but for me they’ve always been connected by one purpose helping people feel healthier, more confident, and more comfortable in their own skin.

Dentistry taught me discipline, precision, and the importance of genuinely caring for people. Yoga introduced me to mindfulness and reminded me that health isn’t just physical, it’s mental and emotional too.

Entrepreneurship pushed me out of my comfort zone and taught me resilience, adaptability, and how to build something meaningful from an idea. Fashion gave me a creative outlet and reinforced that confidence often starts with how we express ourselves. And being a digital creator has allowed me to bring all these passions together, educate people, share authentic experiences, and build a community based on trust.

Looking back, none of these journeys feels disconnected. Each one has taught me a different lesson, and together they’ve shaped me into someone who believes that wellness is holistic. It’s not about fitting into one label, it’s about continuously learning, evolving, and inspiring others to become the best version of themselves.

Many people struggle to balance demanding careers with personal passions. How did you find the courage to pursue both dentistry and holistic wellness?

For me, it was never about choosing one over the other, it was about realizing that both came from the same purpose: helping people heal. Dentistry allowed me to care for patients physically, while yoga and holistic wellness taught me the importance of mental, emotional, and preventive health.

I started practising yoga after my daughter was born and I was on a sabbatical from dentistry. It was during that phase that I realised my passion for yoga beyond learning. It gave me a vision to pursue it as a career while helping people to stay healthy in a holistic way. So one came after the other, but both meant to heal people, which is my passion.

What inspired you to introduce aerial yoga to Noida, and what challenges did you face while building Vivid Vibes from the ground up?

I have always believed that wellness should evolve with people’s needs. When I discovered aerial yoga, I was amazed by how it combined strength, flexibility, mindfulness, and playfulness in one practice. At that time, Noida didn’t have a dedicated aerial yoga studio, and I felt there was a real opportunity to introduce something unique that could make fitness both effective and enjoyable.

That’s how Vivid Vibes was born, the first aerial yoga studio in Noida, founded by me. We were all set to launch in March 2020, but unfortunately, that’s exactly when COVID-19 brought the entire country to a standstill. Instead of celebrating our opening, we had to keep the studio shut for an entire year. It was heartbreaking to see a dream that I’d worked so hard for come to a pause before it had even begun.

Finally, on 1st March 2021, we were able to open our doors. But even then, the challenges weren’t over. People were understandably cautious about stepping out, joining fitness studios, or attending regular classes. Since aerial yoga itself was a new concept, I first had to build awareness about what it was, reassure people that it was safe, and then also rebuild their confidence in returning to a studio environment after the pandemic.

It wasn’t easy, but I believed in the vision. We focused on creating a safe, welcoming space and educating people about the benefits of aerial yoga. Slowly, word spread, trust grew, and so did our community. Looking back, those challenges taught me resilience and patience. They reminded me that every setback is temporary if you stay committed to your purpose. Today, Vivid Vibes is much more than a fitness studio. It’s a community where people come to heal, grow, and rediscover the joy of movement.

This version feels more authentic because it acknowledges that the biggest challenge wasn’t just introducing aerial yoga, it was launching a brand-new wellness business during one of the most difficult periods in recent history.

As someone who believes in holistic wellness, what does “living well” truly mean to you beyond fitness and appearance?

For me, living well goes far beyond looking fit or achieving a certain number on the weighing scale. True wellness is about finding balance between your physical health, mental well-being, emotional resilience, and the way you connect with yourself and others.

You can have the perfect body, but if you’re constantly stressed, sleep-deprived, or emotionally drained, you’re not truly healthy. Living well means nourishing your body with good food, moving it because you love and respect it not because you want to punish it. It means making time for mindfulness, prioritizing quality sleep, managing stress, and creating meaningful relationships.

As a dentist and a wellness entrepreneur, I’ve realized that prevention is always better than cure, whether it’s oral health or overall well-being. Small, consistent habits practiced every day have a much greater impact than chasing quick fixes.

Ultimately, living well means waking up every day feeling healthy, peaceful, and grateful. It’s about becoming the healthiest version of yourself not the skinniest or the strongest, but the happiest and most balanced.

Was there a defining moment in your life that completely changed your perspective on health, happiness, or success?

I would say the defining moment in my life was the birth of my daughter. I had always hoped for a normal delivery, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to undergo a C-section. I also lost a significant amount of blood, so my recovery wasn’t easy. It took time for me to regain my strength, both physically and mentally.

Like many new mothers, I had gained weight during pregnancy, and the thought of getting back to my healthiest self while caring for a newborn felt overwhelming. My daughter needed me around the clock, and motherhood brought a whole new set of responsibilities. But I made a conscious decision not to neglect myself in the process.

I focused on recovering gradually through regular exercise, nourishing food, and a healthy, sustainable routine rather than looking for quick fixes. Within a year, I was able to regain my fitness in a healthy way, and that journey taught me one of the most valuable lessons of my life.

I realized that taking care of yourself isn’t selfish, it’s essential.

As women, we often put everyone else’s needs before our own, but when we prioritize our own health and well-being, we’re actually in a much better position to care for the people we love. That experience completely changed my perspective on health and success. Today, I believe true success isn’t just about achieving goals. It’s about finding the balance to care for yourself while embracing every new role life gives you.

This version is emotional, inspiring, and ends with a powerful takeaway that resonates with many women and mothers.

Social media often showcases highlight reels. How do you stay authentic while navigating the influencer space?

Here’s a polished version that keeps your personality and message intact while making it flow naturally in an interview:

I think authenticity comes from showing real life, not just the highlight reel. On my social media, I share my everyday routine, the food I eat, my workouts, my travels, and even the days when staying on track feels difficult.

If you’ve seen my gym posts, you’ll notice that the captions often reflect exactly how I’m feeling that day. There are mornings when I don’t feel like working out, when I’m on my period, feeling under the weather, or simply exhausted after a hectic schedule. I share those moments because I want my audience to know that I’m human too. Staying consistent takes grit and determination for me as well. The difference is that I choose to show up because I see fitness as an investment in my future health.

The same goes for food. I don’t pretend to eat perfectly all the time. When I’m out with family or friends, or travelling, I do enjoy my favourite foods and indulge occasionally. But I also believe in balance. One meal doesn’t define your health your overall lifestyle does. So whenever I can, I make healthier choices, especially during my travels and staycations, but I never believe in extreme restrictions.

My work often involves travelling for shoots and managing a busy schedule, so I know how challenging it can be to stay consistent. That’s why I don’t treat fitness as a temporary goal or something I do only when it’s convenient. It’s simply a part of my lifestyle.

I hope that’s what my audience takes away that you don’t have to be perfect to be healthy. You just have to be consistent, make mindful choices most of the time, and keep showing up for yourself, even on the difficult days.

As both a healthcare professional and wellness advocate, what are some of the biggest misconceptions people have about healthy living today?

Here’s a polished, conversational version that keeps your expertise and personality intact:

I think one of the biggest misconceptions today is that being thin automatically means being healthy. That’s simply not true.

You can be very slim and still have poor muscle mass, a high body fat percentage what many people call “skinny fat” or even underlying lifestyle-related health issues. True health isn’t defined by your weight alone. It’s about your overall health parameters, your body composition, your energy levels, and whether you’re free from lifestyle diseases.

Another common myth, especially among women, is that weight training will make them bulky. I always smile when I hear that because physiologically, women don’t have the same levels of testosterone as men. Building noticeable muscle takes years of consistent training, proper nutrition, and dedication.

I train very hard myself, and I can tell you from experience that muscle doesn’t appear overnight. Strength training actually helps women become stronger, improve bone health, boost metabolism, and develop a lean, toned physique.

I also think there’s a lot of misinformation around supplements. Many people believe they can achieve the perfect body by taking unnecessary or unnatural supplements. The truth is, no supplement can replace a healthy lifestyle, and the misuse of certain performance-enhancing substances can have serious long-term effects on the liver, kidneys, and overall health.

My advice is always to focus on the basics first eat nutritious food, exercise regularly, sleep well, and be consistent. If supplements are needed, they should simply complement a healthy lifestyle, not replace it. At the end of the day, health is about building a body that’s strong, functional, and sustainable, not just one that looks good on social media.

Mental wellness is becoming a global conversation. How has yoga personally helped you navigate stress, self-doubt, or burnout?

Here’s a polished and heartfelt version that keeps your personal journey at the center while making it interview-ready:

Yoga has been one of the biggest pillars of strength in my life. It has helped me stay grounded and balanced through some of the most difficult phases I’ve experienced.

One of those phases was my separation from my husband. Starting over wasn’t easy. I had to rebuild my life, restart my career at the age of 39, and step into completely new roles as a digital entrepreneur, wellness advocate, content creator, and the founder of my studio. There were moments of uncertainty, self-doubt, and emotional challenges, but yoga gave me the strength to keep moving forward.

What yoga has taught me is that life will always have ups and downs, but how we respond to those situations makes all the difference. Through yoga and meditation, I’ve learned to stay calm even in the most difficult circumstances, rather than reacting out of fear or stress.

It has helped me become more focused, more resilient, and more mindful in the decisions I make. For me, yoga isn’t just a form of exercise, it’s a way of life. It reminds me to trust the process, stay patient, and believe that every difficult phase is temporary. If you stay grounded, keep showing up, and take one step at a time, you will find your way through. That’s the greatest gift yoga has given me, and it’s a lesson I carry with me every single day.

Fashion and fitness are both part of your personal brand. How do style and self-expression contribute to confidence and overall well-being?

For me, fashion and fitness are both forms of self-expression. Neither is about impressing other people, they’re about feeling confident and comfortable in your own skin.

Fitness gives me confidence from within because I know I’m taking care of my body and my health. Fashion, on the other hand, is a way of expressing my personality and creativity. The way we dress can influence how we feel. When you wear something that makes you feel good, you naturally carry yourself with more confidence.

At the same time, I don’t believe confidence should depend on a particular size, brand, or trend. Confidence comes from accepting yourself first. Fashion should celebrate who you are, not make you feel like you have to become someone else.

I also love showing people that you can embrace both wellness and style. You can enjoy dressing up, experimenting with fashion, and feeling glamorous while still prioritizing your health. The two don’t have to be separate, they can beautifully complement each other.

For me, the most stylish person in the room isn’t necessarily the one wearing the most expensive outfit. It’s the person who is comfortable in their own skin, carries themselves with confidence, and radiates happiness and good health. That’s the kind of confidence I hope to inspire through my work and my social media.

What advice would you give to women who want to reinvent themselves but feel afraid of stepping outside their comfort zone?

My biggest advice would be: don’t let fear decide your future. Every new beginning feels uncomfortable, and that’s completely normal. If I had let fear stop me, I would never have rebuilt my life, started my career again at 39, founded Vivid Vibes, or become a digital entrepreneur and wellness advocate.

Life will always throw unexpected challenges your way. I’ve learned that it’s never too late to start over or reinvent yourself. Your age, your circumstances, or your past don’t define what you’re capable of. What matters is your willingness to take that first step.

You don’t have to have everything figured out. Start small, be consistent, and trust the process. Every small step builds confidence, and over time, those small steps lead to big transformations.

Most importantly, don’t lose yourself while taking care of everyone else. As women, we often prioritize our families, careers, and responsibilities, but your dreams and your well-being matter too. Investing in yourself isn’t selfish, it’s one of the best things you can do, because when you’re stronger, happier, and more fulfilled, you’re able to give your best to the people around you.

Believe in yourself, even on the days when no one else does. Growth begins the moment you step outside your comfort zone. It may feel scary at first, but that’s often where the most beautiful opportunities and the greatest version of yourself are waiting.

In today’s fast-paced world, what are three simple wellness habits that everyone can adopt regardless of age or fitness level?

If I had to recommend three wellness habits that anyone can adopt, regardless of their age or fitness level, they would be these:

First, move your body regularly. It doesn’t have to be a specific type of exercise. It could be yoga, Pilates, strength training, walking, running, swimming anything you genuinely enjoy. I always say, movement is magic. Aim to be active at least four to five times a week. Choose a form of exercise that suits your lifestyle, your fitness level, and your health goals, because the best workout is the one you can stay consistent with.

Second, eat a nutritious, balanced diet. The simplest way to do that is by eating fresh, home-cooked meals whenever possible. If you have a busy schedule, try carrying your meals with you so you’re less likely to rely on unhealthy options. One thing I always emphasize is protein. Every meal should include a good source of protein because it’s essential for muscle health, recovery, and overall well-being. As a general guideline, aim for around 1.2 to 1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day, depending on your activity level and individual needs.

Third, prioritize rest and recovery. We often focus so much on diet and exercise that we forget how important sleep and stress management are. Try to get at least seven to eight hours of quality sleep, sleep early, wake up early, and follow your body’s natural circadian rhythm as much as possible. Along with that, spend a few minutes every day practicing meditation, deep breathing, or mindfulness. These simple habits help reduce stress, improve focus, and support your overall health.

At the end of the day, wellness isn’t about doing something extraordinary it’s about doing the simple things consistently. Those small daily habits are what create long-term health and happiness.

Finally, if you could leave our readers with one message about living a healthier, happier, and more mindful life, what would it be?

If there’s one message I’d like to leave everyone with, it’s this: don’t wait for the perfect time to start taking care of yourself. Your health is your greatest investment, and every small choice you make today shapes the quality of your future.

We often get so busy chasing careers, looking after our families, and meeting everyone’s expectations that we forget to prioritize ourselves. But the truth is, you can’t pour from an empty cup. When you take care of your physical and mental well-being, you’re not just improving your own life you’re able to show up better for everyone around you.

Don’t compare your journey with someone else’s, especially on social media. Focus on becoming a little healthier, a little stronger, and a little happier than you were yesterday. Progress is always more important than perfection.

Most importantly, be kind to yourself. There will be setbacks, busy days, and moments when you lose motivation. That’s a part of life. What matters is that you keep coming back to your healthy habits and never give up on yourself.

At the end of the day, true wellness isn’t about having the perfect body or the perfect life. It’s about waking up each day with gratitude, moving your body, nourishing your mind, and living with purpose.
