A Talk With Nessie

She started alone in silence. Today, her voice shapes an entire fitness community.

How did your journey in fitness begin, and what inspired you to take it seriously?

I have been training for over a decade, starting back in high school. At that time, the fitness industry in my country was not as developed, and it was uncommon for women to step into the gym. Despite that, I chose to overcome the social hesitation and trained on my own, often as the only woman in a male-dominated environment. That experience shaped not only my discipline but also my identity in fitness today.

At what point did you decide to turn your passion for fitness into a career?

My journey into coaching happened organically. As more people began approaching me for guidance, I realized the responsibility that came with it. Instead of jumping in immediately, I took the time to deepen my knowledge and earn the necessary certifications. When I felt fully equipped both in expertise and confidence, I officially began coaching my first clients in 2020.

You’ve built a strong presence in the industry. What do you think helped you connect with people early on?

My connection with the audience comes from authenticity and consistent value. Today, a significant portion of the fitness community in Vietnam recognizes my influence. My image is present in gyms nationwide, and I collaborate with leading fitness brands.

I’ve also been invited to speak and contribute to major workshops across powerlifting, private coaching, and commercial fitness sectors. By continuously working with reputable partners and delivering real results, my presence and credibility have grown naturally over time.

Being one of the early online coaches in Vietnam, what were some challenges you faced in the beginning?

Interestingly, I didn’t encounter major obstacles at the beginning. I had already built a strong foundation both in knowledge and in personal branding. My established social media presence created trust, which allowed me to transition into online coaching smoothly and effectively.

Your approach focuses on sustainable fitness. Why is this so important to you?

Sustainability is at the core of everything I do. My training philosophy combines strength training and cardio to develop not only aesthetics, but also strength and endurance.

I deeply understand my audience especially Asian women, the majority of whom aspire to achieve a lean, toned physique. By aligning my methods with their goals, I ensure that the results are not only effective, but also maintainable long-term.

How do you work with clients from different backgrounds and fitness levels?

Through my multi-platform presence across Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok with a combined audience of over 600,000 followers, I’ve built a strong connection with my core demographic: young, modern, and dynamic women aged 16 to 35.

My coaching approach is adaptable, but always rooted in understanding the lifestyle, mindset, and preferences of each client.

Is there a client transformation that really stayed with you?

To be honest, nearly all of my clients experience meaningful transformation around 98% achieve visible results. The remaining cases usually require more time due to shorter training periods.

One of the most memorable journeys was a female client who lost over 30kg. It wasn’t just a physical transformation, but a complete lifestyle change.

You’ve built a large fitness community. How do you keep your audience engaged and motivated?

Community is one of my strongest assets. I actively collaborate with fitness KOLs and emerging talents, mentoring and guiding them to grow within the industry. Many have achieved remarkable success some even surpassing me, which I take great pride in.

Together, we’ve created a highly influential network. With multiple KOLs, each holding hundreds of thousands of followers, we have the ability to create trends and amplify campaigns at scale. This ecosystem allows us to deliver impactful and highly viral results for brands entering the Vietnamese market.

What does a typical day look like for you as a coach and business owner?

I operate with a specialized team, including coaching assistants, video editors, and social media managers. I strongly believe in efficiency through specialization rather than multitasking.

My role focuses on high-level activities: coaching clients, managing scheduled sessions, and executing strategic brand collaborations.

What inspired you to create eBooks and courses for other trainers?

My approach is simple,I listen. I pay close attention to what people around me need, where they struggle, and what gaps exist in the market. From there, I develop products that offer clear, practical solutions.

How do you see the future of online coaching, especially in Vietnam?

Post-COVID-19, the shift toward online platforms has accelerated dramatically. Online coaching removes the limitations of geography and time, allowing coaches to work with clients globally.

In Vietnam, this model will continue to expand rapidly, becoming a dominant force in the fitness industry.

What advice would you give to someone starting their fitness journey or career today?
